The Customs Department will again be hosting refresher training this weekend for more of its stakeholders who utilize the ASYCUDA World system.

Fifty-five members of the Barbados Shipping Association will gather at Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, tomorrow, Saturday, September 28, from 9:00 a.m., to receive additional training on the recently implemented ASYCUDA World system.

In addition, the Comptroller of Customs has extended the modification access to shipping agents until Thursday, October 10. This means that they will be able to amend their manifests without fines and correct their errors independently and resubmit to Customs real-time.

Meanwhile, training was held last weekend for stakeholders who process cargo manifests and declaration forms and Comptroller of Customs, Owen Holder, said there was “an overwhelming response” to the training, with several stakeholders reporting that they were now more comfortable accessing and working within the system.

“The training helped in a major way and many went away feeling happy. Some stakeholders indicated that they are now clearer on a number of areas, so I believe there was major knowledge transfer at the session,” Mr. Holder stated.

The Comptroller stressed that the Customs Department was working diligently with stakeholders to ensure that any problems they were experiencing with ASYCUDA World could be rectified.
