Medical students at the American University of Barbados (AUB) have been told by this country???s Education Minister, Ronald Jones, not to lose sight of their beginnings, to become more humble, caring and considerate as they move towards achieving their personal goal.
???You are important; don???t allow that importance to make you less than human,??? Mr. Jones implored, as he addressed the awardees at the inaugural awards ceremony of the AUB, last Friday, at its Wildey headquarters.
Encouraging students to be philanthropic as they advanced in their profession, he urged them not to limit university life to mere studying. ???As you expand your own horizon, as you operate at the height of your studies, your eventual profession [it is hoped] that the more humble, the more caring and the more considerate you [will] become ??? because there are so many people in the world who need care.
???As you work towards your success find some time to refresh your soul. Reach out to others who are part of the human civilisation,??? he added.
Three students made the Dean???s List ??? Kayla Odle and twin sisters, Kayla and Kirsten Callendar, with a perfect 4.0 average. They were also honoured for ???Academic Excellence??? along with six others – Fizah Chaudhay, Taymar Gittens, Maria Harpal, Lyandra Jones, Ruth Ann Singh and Alana Wharton.
