The 160th anniversary of the Barbados Audit Office will be commemorated on December 4, and a number of activities have been planned to celebrate this important milestone.
A week of activities will begin on Sunday, November 29, with a service at 8:00 a.m. at the St. Michael & All Angels Cathedral, St. Michael???s Row, Bridgetown.
The following day, Monday, November 30, past and present staff as well as their families will go on an ???Ole-time Excursion??? to the northeast and south of the island.??They will visit Animal Flower Cave, Cherry Tree Hill and Ragged Point Light House, among other places.
On Wednesday, December 2, The Relevance of the Auditor General’s??Office to the Barbadian Society will be explored during a lecture at the Frank Collymore Hall, starting at 7:00 p.m. The presenter will be Auditor General, Leigh Trotman.
Staffers will be rewarded for their outstanding service to the Office on Thursday, December 3, during an Awards Dinner at Hilton Barbados Resort.??The week will climax on Friday, December 4, with a motivational talk at 2:00 p.m. on Stress in the Workplace by lecturer at the Barbados Community College, Renwick Gaskin, who is also qualified in general and psychiatric nursing.
Staff will then go to the Police Sports Club at Weymouth for a cricket match and fun games. Afterwards, they will return to their office at the Weymouth Corporate Centre, Roebuck Street, for a fun evening with karaoke.
During its 60 years of existence, the Barbados Audit Office has been carrying out both pre-audits and post audits. The Office is driven by its mission to promote accountability in the public service through focusing on its goals of improving Government???s financial management, making the best use of Government???s resources, and developing its staff.
