Attorney-General, Freundel Stuart??

Attorney General, Freundel Stuart, has moved swiftly to bring resolution to the reported delay in having autopsies conducted at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

According to an official in the Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Stuart held talks yesterday with his counterpart in the Ministry of Health, Donville Inniss, and officials of both departments, as well as the QEH, and they had come up with a solution which would immediately facilitate the conduct of autopsies. "The mechanism becomes effective immediately."

The official has also pointed out that "the Coroner has advised that funeral arrangements should not be finalised until bodies are released by that office by way of a funeral warrant, in accordance with the Coroner’s Act."

The Attorney General’s Office has apologised for the inconvenience the situation had posed to those families of deceased persons.??
