Educational providers who offer post secondary/tertiary education and training will, at month-end, receive assistance in preparing their programmes for approval by the Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC).

It will come in the form of a BAC workshop on the topic: Preparing for Programme Approval on Wednesday, June 27, at the (Hospitality Institute PomMarine Hotel, Hastings), Christ Church. The workshop will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Key objectives are to ensure that participants understand and can describe the Programme Approval process; complete the application form for such approval accurately; interpret the criteria; identify relevant information for inclusion in a programme specification document and develop an outline of a programme specification document.

Programme Approval is a quality assurance process which ensures that a programme is appropriately designed and structured; adequately resourced; consistent with the provider’s mission; and has stated learning outcomes and assessment strategies that are set at an appropriate level for the qualification awarded.

Post-secondary/tertiary educational providers are encouraged to register for the workshop as programme approval not only provides the foundation for programme accreditation with the BAC but also signals the provider’s commitment to quality tertiary educational provision.

Registration forms and other details are available on the BAC website at www.bac.gov.bb. Interested persons may also contact the BAC via email at info@bac.gov.bb, or by telephone at 436-9094 for more information.
