Management of the Barbados Agricultural Development & Marketing Corporation (BADMC) is appealing to farmers for continued patience, as the corporation seeks to restore irrigation services to several districts, following the passage of Tropical Storm Tomas.
"We understand and sympathise with the effects of the loss of this critical asset. We will continue to work dilligently to correct all problems," BADMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Skeete assured.
In giving an update, the BADMC official noted that services in the St. Patricks and Fairview, Christ Church districts were "still out" because of a ruptured main??
in Dolphin Park. ??Indicating that repairs were being done this week, Mr. Skeete said service was scheduled to be restored within two weeks.
In terms of the Spring Hall Land Lease Programme, the BADMC?? head revealed that roof as well as pump repairs were?? being conducted at?? the Friendship station, and were due to be completed by the end of this week.
Concerning outages stemming from fallen power lines, Mr. Skeete said the Barbados Light & Power Co Ltd had indicated that power at the Mount Poyer Station, Spring Hall, St. Lucy, as well as at the Pine Basin, St. Michael, would be restored within the week.
"We are pleased to announce that service has been restored to the Ruby/ Union, St. Philip district, however, this service is being scheduled every other day since repairs to a section of the reservoir are currently being done," Mr. Skeete added.
The BADMC official pointed out that service at Sanford, St. Philip was restored over the weekend.????cgaskin@barbados.gov.bb
