‘Baje To The World’ – Digicel People’s Choice winner Trinity Clarke and Text winner Brian Marshall-Harris recently received their prizes during a presentation at Digicel’s Dome Mall, Warrens, St. Michael store.

In accepting his prize, Mr. Marshall-Harris exclaimed: “I couldn’t believe I had won!” He noted it was his first time winning anything and he was really surprised when he received the call.

He noted that it was great to support young people and their endeavours and he would be gifting part of his prize to Mr. Antonio Medford, a young motivational speaker, to assist him in his work.

In her acceptance, Miss Clarke stated that she felt really good and acknowledged the support of the public.  “I am very grateful for all my fans and supporters voting because if not for them, I wouldn’t have been able to receive this award.”

The 14-year-old ‘Baje To The World’ People’s Choice Winner also thanked Digicel for the award and hinted at a new project being developed that they could possibly partner on in the near future.

Making the presentations and congratulating the winners were Marketing Manager at Digicel, Ms. Risha Daniel, and Deputy Chief Community Development Officer, Yolande Skeete.

In thanking Digicel for its partnership in the ‘Baje To The World’ Finals, Mrs. Skeete described it as a good experience, which she hoped they could build on through other initiatives that are a part of the Community Development Department’s portfolio.

Ms. Daniel noted Digicel’s commitment to youth development, through its new partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, stressing their interest in “properties that change people’s lives”, stating that “music hits every single community across the island”.

In responding to the rationale behind the sponsorship, Ms. Daniel stated that giving back is essential, and it was two-fold.

“It’s clearly business, as music is an integral part of the Bajan community at a time when people are glued to their devices, but it’s also about playing a key role in our youth’s development, as Digicel continues to be a part of Barbados’ tapestry.”

She reiterated that Digicel was very happy to come on board to facilitate the ‘Baje To The World’ People’s Choice Competition via its Text To Win platform and congratulated both winners on receiving their Samsung A51 cellphones with a five-month free 30-day Prime Bundle.

The ‘Baje To The World’ Finals was held on March 21 in a virtual production that saw 25-year-old Casheeda Dottin emerging as the winner.
