United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has stated that the Haiti/Dominican Republic deportation troubles ???is a matter of human rights and human dignity???.

Speaking today during a press conference in the Peninsula Suite at Hilton Barbados, the UN Secretary-General underscored the need for the Dominican Republic and Haiti to engage in a frank and constructive dialogue.

Mr. Ban added that he was encouraged that even throughout the mass deportation of Haitian descendants, both countries still managed to ???maintain a bilateral dialogue??? during this challenging time.

Additionally, the UN Secretary-General stated that as the Haitian elections approached, the UN stood ready to provide technical support to allow the elections to be held in a peaceful manner.??
