When the next meeting of the Barbados Association of Reading (BAR) comes off this weekend, focus will be on instructing parents, teachers and community workers about ways to produce materials which are engaging and stimulating and would encourage children to read.

Entitled "Creating Exciting Resources for Reading and Vocabulary", the meeting is scheduled to be held this Saturday, June 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College.

A brief review of the Ministry of Education’s reading syllabus and the vocabulary skills required by children will be discussed, after which participants will make educational aids for primary and secondary students under the guidance of skilled facilitators.

Teachers, parents and community workers from across the island are invited to attend the meeting. All participants are encouraged to bring pencils, rulers, scissors, markers, card, paper, old magazines and calendars to be used in the practical session.??kmoore@barbados.gov.bb
