Barbadians are reminded to take a minute out of their day tomorrow to pause for prayer. Starting at noon, radio stations will join the nation in observing one minute of prayerful silence.

In response to the several incidents of violence experienced this month, the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs is asking residents to spend the weekend reflecting and praying for an end to the criminal acts and the restoration of peace in affected communities.

The initiative has as its theme Pause for a Cause, and churches, mosques and other places of worship will be opened to allow persons to gather.

The Ministry will host a worship session at its offices for staff where the message of peace will be delivered by President of the Barbados Evangelical Association, Dr. Nigel Taylor,

Other activities are planned during February aimed at renouncing violence, and continuing the focus on peace and unity.

These include a Day of Love, Peace and Commitment on February 13, and a faith-based consultation to devise strategies to help communities with conflict resolution and promoting community spirit.
