Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Wilfred Abrahams, recently received a courtesy visit from Bermuda’s Minister of Home Affairs, Walter H. Roban.

Minister Roban, who was accompanied by Director of Energy, Jeane Nikolai and other officials from Bermuda’s government, made the visit to see how his country could learn from the strides Barbados has made in the area of sustainable energy.

Additionally, they were also interested in hearing about Barbados’ 2030 vision for 100 per cent renewable energy and carbon neutrality, as well as the lessons learnt from the sustainable energy projects and programmes implemented locally.

The delegation also met with the Fair Trading Commission to see how it operates and regulates the energy sector.

While here, the Bermudan officials visited the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation’s 25 kilowatt AC Photovoltaic System.

The system is being funded under the Public Sector Smart Energy Programme, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and the European Union.

The programme seeks to promote and implement the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures in the public service.
