This island???s Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, would like to see an increase in trade between Barbados and Switzerland in the near future.

He expressed this desire recently when Ambassador of Switzerland to Barbados, Sabine Ulmann Shaban, paid him a courtesy call at Government Headquarters while he was acting Prime Minister.

Mr. Sealy stressed that Barbados was keen to offer its tourism services to the Swiss. ???It is something we would like to pursue and Switzerland is on our radar. We are keen to get more business from Europe coming here,??? he told the envoy.

He said he hoped the relationship enjoyed between the two countries would be strengthened, adding that there was a lot Barbados could learn from Switzerland and there were areas in which both countries could cooperate.

Mrs. Ulmann Shaban agreed there could be collaboration between the two countries, especially in the area of tourism, and she suggested an exchange of hospitality students.

Minister Sealy noted that the Swiss were renowned for their culinary skills and agreed there could be a partnership in the area of hospitality.

Barbados and Switzerland established diplomatic ties on March 4, 1980.
