Barbados and Argentina are continuing to identify ways to strengthen their relationship. And one of the ways that is being suggested is through industry and commerce.

This idea was ???put on the table??? when the Argentinian Ambassador, Diego Limeres recently paid a visit to Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss.

Minister Inniss told the official that Barbados was very mindful of Argentina???s success in developing a local industry centred on leather and craft and he recommended that the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) pursued areas of Technical Corporation with Argentina to help expose Barbadians to particular skills in leather and other craftwork for which Argentina is renowned.

Mr. Inniss also expressed interest in having a formal tax treaty agreement with Argentina, indicating that he was mindful that the world was becoming a global village and, therefore, there was the need for countries to engage in reciprocity.??Other matters discussed included agriculture and areas for bilateral cooperation.

Barbados and Argentina established diplomatic relations on August 16, 1968.
