This island will be represented at one of the biggest events in the music industry – MIDEM (March?? International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale) 2013, due to the efforts of the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC).

Slated to run from January 26 – 29 in Cannes, France, MIDEM creates a forum for leading executives, decision makers and people of influence to conduct business for music.

Among those Barbadians scheduled to participate in what is labeled as "the world’s largest trade fair for the music industry", are: singer/songwriter Red Plastic Bag; international star Rupee; world renowned saxophonist Arturo Tappin; and producers/publishers Andrew Denny from Andrew Denny Productions Inc., Fabian Worrell from FM Music, and Adam Elias (King Bubba FM) from Platta Studio.

The delegation will be led by Director of Export Development and Promotion at the BIDC, Sonja Trotman and Senior Business Development Officer at the BIDC, Modou Diagne.

The participants have been drawn from a range of musical genres, styles and skills, with the aim to deliver a varied, yet distinctive Barbadian flair to MIDEM 2013.

According to Mr. Diagne: "We intend to build on the successes of the previous Barbados delegation members and use these achievements to further expose our musical talent and production skills to key players within a serious business forum. The focus will be on negotiating and ultimately closing licensing and publishing deals".

This is the fifth consecutive year that Barbados will be attending MIDEM.
