Some of Barbados’ best creations are on display at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre for the?? 2010 Holiday and Home Furnishing and Decorative Accessories Home Show.??

This was underscored by Minister of Commerce and Trade, Senator Haynesly Ben, following a visit to the Barbados Manufacturer’s Association(BMA) event. It features the work of local designers, from exotic wooden ND stone furnishings to glass wall art, seeks to showcase the talent of local artists and illustrate its viability within the tourism sector.??

Senator Benn, said that he was "very impressed" with the local offerings, adding that there was a need to see the value in our national products. "We have to give our local companies opportunities, we have so much quality work here but they don’t get the exposure [they need]."

Special Projects Coordinator at the BMA, Shelly Ann Austin-Taylor, noted that the show had gone well and was pleased with the level of interest shown by the general public.?? She described the event as a prime opportunity for the target audience -villa owners, property developers – and the public to become familiar with the quality and style of furnishing available on island.

"…because it is small manufacturers, a lot of people don’t know that they exist unless they’re looking for something specific. There is a need for this kind of show where people can see you don’t need to fly to Miami or New York, quality products are right here," Ms. Austin-Taylor maintained. The show, which began last Wednesday, ended today.????nekaelia.hutchinson@barbados.gov.bb
