Hundreds of cadets across the island will get an opportunity to enhance their precision in various skills during the Barbados Cadet Corps Summer Camps Programme, slated to get under way later this month.

The junior cadet camp will be held from Sunday, June 26, to Monday, July 4, at Paragon Base, Christ Church. From Wednesday, July 6 to Sunday, July 17, the camp for participants drawn from the star one, two, three, four, band and sea cadets will be held at Paragon Base and The Christ Church Foundation School.

Additionally, an International Cadet Challenge Camp, will be hosted from Sunday, July 31 to Wednesday, August 31.

Participants, who will be drawn from the United Kingdom, Barbados, and other CARICOM countries, will compete in various track and field events such as relay and obstacle course races and a triathlon. They will also be taught life-saving skills during the survival camp and orienteering (the use of map and compass to find places on the ground).

Apart from displaying their athleticism and survival skills, the cadets will showcase their talents during a number of song and dance routines.

Cadet Executive Officer, Major Patrick Skeete, disclosed that more than 500 cadets had already signed up for the camp programme. Further information may be obtained by calling Major Skeete at 436-6185 ext 3202 or 228-5035.
