Barbados remains committed to strengthening its 17-year-old diplomatic relationship with Poland.

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart gave this assurance recently to Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Barbados, Piotr Kaszuba, during a courtesy call at Ilaro Court.

Poland is a member of the European Union (EU), and the Prime Minister pointed out that Barbados had benefitted greatly from the EU???s assistance, especially in the area of technical cooperation, and said he expected this support to continue.

Mr. Stuart expressed the view that the values to which both countries subscribed were very important to the world and said it was important that democratic issues such as human rights and the fight against oppression were kept on the front burner.

Mr. Kaszuba added that the European Union was vital to the development of countries, especially the smaller ones in that grouping, and expressed the view that the future of that body was bright.

The Envoy is based in Venezuela.
