The Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will celebrate its 58th anniversary with a week of activities under the theme: Safeguarding our Nation through the Use of Technology and Education from Sunday, September 29, until Saturday, October 5.

A number of programmes are planned to educate the public about fire prevention methods during this week.

BFS week will start with a church service at the Hawthorn Memorial Methodist Church, Worthing, Christ Church, on Sunday, September 29, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Health Extravaganza on Monday, September 30, at the BFS Headquarters, Probyn Street, St. Michael beginning at 10:00 a.m.

On Tuesday, October 1, members of the public are invited to the Airport Fire Station at Seawell, Christ Church, to celebrate Southern Division Day, where there will be displays on fire safety skills and techniques in aerodrome firefighting starting at 10:00 a.m.

At 7:00 p.m. on the same day, the Barbados Fire Service Quiz will take place at the BFS Headquarters, Probyn Street, St. Michael, and the public is invited to attend.

The anniversary celebrations will continue with the Barbados Fire Service Sports and Social Club hosting Q in the Community on Thursday, October 3, at the Arch Hall Fire Station, Arch Hall, St. Thomas, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

That club will also host the annual Family Fun Fair on Saturday, October 5, at the BFS Headquarters, Probyn Street, St. Michael, starting at 1:00 p.m.
