Senior tax officials from across the region will gather in Barbados next week for a four-day symposium to discuss taxation matters.

Hosted by the local Inland Revenue Department, in association with the Ministry of Finance, the 21st General Assembly and Technical Conference of the Caribbean Organisation of Tax Administrators (COTA) will take place from Monday, July 12, to Thursday, July 15, at the Accra Beach Hotel.

Under the theme, "The successes and challenges of tax administrations in maintaining efficiencies in a time of global uncertainty," the forum is expected also ??to attract associate member countries of CARICOM as well as other international organisations.

The Conference will also be used to make a presentation to the winner of the COTA Essay Competition that was held last year.?? The aim of the competition was to sensitise students between 15 to 19 years of age about the relevance and role of tax collections in the economic and social development of a country.??

Minister of State, in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Darcy Boyce, will deliver the feature address. tblackman@barbados.gov.bb
