Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, is giving the assurance that Barbados treats the safety and security of visitors as a priority as he issued another public apology to British vistors Ann and Philip Prior, who were shot and injured during a recent robbery on the island.

Speaking to a wide cross section of hoteliers and industry officials during the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Associations, at the Accra Beach Hotel, the Minister said Barbados prided itself on the security of tourist.

"I need to apologise once again to the Priors who were attacked and I am happy that an arrest has been made in this matter.?? Barbados prides itself on safety and security and I wish to assure everyone that the highest priority has been placed on making sure that Barbadians are not only safe, but our guests as well, through the implementation of more stringent measures across the island.

"The Prime Minister, the Attorney General and the leadership of the Royal Barbados Police Force, are all determined to make sure that we can rid ourselves from anything that even appears to be a spate of incidents in this sector.?? We cannot afford it and I do not want anyone to think that we are anyway soft on crime," Mr. Sealy emphasised.

The Tourism Minister said that all tourist attractions across the island followed established safety and security stipulations and pointed out that all must work together to ensure that the guests enjoyed the best protection.
