There are some strategic areas that Barbados wants to work on with Argentina, says this island???s Minister of Finance, Christopher Sinckler.

He made this disclosure today during a courtesy call with Ambassador of Argentina, Diego Limeres, at Government Headquarters.

While not outlining the various areas, Mr. Sinckler said Argentina???s agricultural industry utilises modern technology and Barbados could learn a lot from the country.

The Minister said he was pleased that an Embassy had been established here, saying it would advance relations between the two countries.

He acknowledged that the Caribbean and South America had not forged ahead as far as they could with their relationship and suggested that this new environment could open up a lot of new opportunities for them.

Ambassador Limeres pointed out that Argentina had opened a number of embassies in the region and explained that the presence of resident ambassadors could make a difference.

He said Argentina was trying to explore areas of cooperation with Government and he listed agriculture, tourism and cultural exchanges as some of them.??Barbados established diplomatic relations with Argentina in 1968.
