The Barbados Manufacturers’ Association should be credited for "creating a vibrant network and giving continuing support to actual and potential manufacturers in Barbados."

This praise has come from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Officer, Senator Darcy Boyce, who delivered the feature address at the opening ceremony of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Exhibition (BMEX) last Friday evening at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Complex.

Against the backdrop of the annual trade fair’s theme Innovation through Inspiration, Senator Boyce said the exhibition continued to inspire manufacturers to produce quality goods.

"The Exhibition has, over the years, helped to motivate Barbadians.?? It has inspired our manufacturers to produce attractive goods and services that enhance our standard of living, which is partly dependent upon the value of the goods and services we are able to produce," he added.

The Minister further stated that trade shows like BMEX were very beneficial economically to manufacturers locally and internationally.

"Given the openness of our economy, international trade is significant in deciding the standard of living of our people. Events such as BMEX have the ability to help us adjust to and benefit from the changing scope of the global market; and thus to maintain the contribution of trade to our economy.?? We must continue to give these events our utmost attention," Senator Boyce stated.

This year’s BMEX is said to have attracted about 160 exhibitors and buyers from the Caribbean and the United Kingdom.
