Barbados’ outstanding membership in the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for the last five decades will be celebrated with two special events to publicly recognise the partnership.
The first event, slated for 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25, will be the planting of five trees during a ceremony on the grounds of PAHO, Dayrell’s Road, Christ Church. Acting Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, will be planting one of the five trees, each one recognising a decade of Barbados’ membership.
Later in the day, the Acting Minister will deliver an address at a ceremony, also at PAHO, to honour eight Health Heroes, at 6:30 p.m.
PAHO is the specialised health care organisation of the Americas that works with countries throughout the region to improve and protect the health of individuals. It engages in technical cooperation with its member countries to fight communicable and non-communicable diseases and their causes, to strengthen health systems, and to respond to emergencies and disasters.
