Barbadians are being encouraged to come out and give heartily to a worthy cause during the Barbados Regiment’s food bank drive in supermarkets across the island.

The drive, in aid of the HIV Food Bank and the Salvation Army, takes place tomorrow, Saturday, March 3, at Carlton Supermarket, Black Rock, St. Michael; Emerald City Supermarket Six Roads, St. Philip; Channell Supermarket, Collymore Rock, St. Michael; and Jordans Supermarket locations at Baxters Road, St. Michael and Fitts Village, St. James.

Shoppers can also make donations to bins located at Popular Discount, Spooners Hill, St. Michael, Super Centre branches at Rendezvous and Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church and Warrens, St. Michael.?? They may also visit Trimart Supermarket stores at Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, Mile-and-a-Quarter, St. Peter and Rendezvous, Christ Church.

During the event, Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel, Ricardo Vickers will drop food items into the bin at Trimart Haggatt Hall, at 9:00 a.m.?? Following this, Vevene Jonas, of the Salvation Army, will also make a donation to the barrel at Super Centre JB’s Sargeants Village at 9:45 a.m.??

The drive is one of the activities held in recognition of the 59th Anniversary of the presentation of the first stand of colours on February 23, 1953.
