During the next two weeks, 23 of the island’s senior athletes, who were selected based on their performance at this year’s National Senior Games, will display their athletic prowess in track and field, archery, basketball, cycling, table tennis and tennis.

Janita Austin, Wendy Barrow-Smith, Barney Brathwaite, Atherley Burrowes, Kendra Dorant-Knight, Shirley Harper, Kathy Harper-Hall, Ainsley Lovell, Jennifer Swanston-Jones and Henderson Waltress will represent the island in the track and field events, while Martha Padmore and Thomas Field will display their skill in archery.

The basketballers are Richard Clarke, Anthony Layne, Lionel Rudder, Stephen Sayers and Richard Toppin, while Gregory Downie and Ronald Harding are the selected cyclists.

Wilmont Goddard and Charles Lovell will aim for gold in table tennis, while Raymond Forde and George Grant will compete in tennis.

John Brooks and Pedro Thomas, two athletes who reside outside of Barbados, will also join the team.

Additionally, six officials, including Manager, Rawle Clarke, Assistant Manager, Anna Shepherd and track and field coach, June Caddle, along with Minister of Social Care, Steve Blackett, are on hand at the Utah event to provide local support to the athletes.
