The Barbados team which is set to compete in the 44th international WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi from October 15 to 18 left the island yesterday.
The competitors are Takiya Jordan, Roshida Griffith and Tinisha Hall, who will represent Barbados in the Hairdressing, Garment Making and Culinary Arts categories of the world’s biggest vocational skills competition.
Akeil Craig-Browne, who will be traveling separately from Canada to Abu Dhabi, will represent Barbados in the Automotive Technology category.
Officials from the TVET Council accompanying the competitors are Team Leader, Wendy McClean; Official Delegate, Henderson Eastmond; Official Observer, Millicent Small and Technical Delegate, Dario Walcott.
Barbadians can view the team on parade, along with approximately 70 other countries during the Opening Ceremony, this Saturday, October 14, on www.worldskills.org and www.worldskillsabudhabi2017.com. The closing ceremony will be on Thursday, October 19.
