Barbados, through the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) Inc., will be the host of GTI Aviation Training in Maximising Airport Revenues, from Wednesday, May 25 to Friday, May 27.

GTI is a subsidiary of Global Travel Investments Ltd., which provides expertise in new business development in the travel industry, particularly in the areas of aviation, airport development and tourism and travel exhibitions.

As the training arm of Global Travel Investments Ltd., GTI provides customised training in aviation, travel, events, consultancy and networking forums.

By hosting the training here, GAIA, and by extension Barbados, will have the opportunity to show off its tourism product offering, raise its profile and position as a leader in the marketplace; earn revenue and provide the staff of GAIA Inc. and its local partners in the industry an opportunity to grow, develop and network with their counterparts around the world.

The topics to be discussed at the two-day training session include: Diversification of non-aero revenues; overcoming a financial crisis, challenges of engaging customers, modifying the product to make it relevant; current market trends to improve profitability, demand and accessibility; increase of digital/online channels to display more products on offer; and hygienic seating to allow for increased dwell times.

Speaking about the face-to-face training, Chief Executive Officer at GAIA Inc., Hadley Bourne, stated: “I am even more resolute that an initiative such as this would confirm in the psyche of many that life must go on and we must continue to explore opportunities.”

The upcoming training is expected to see approximately 30 delegates from several countries participating, among them Antigua and Barbuda, Curacao, Peru, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Canada and the United States.
