Education Officer, Christina Morris, will facilitate the second session of Teaching Reading Made Simple 2015, on Saturday, April 11, at the Erdiston Teachers??? Training College, Pine Hill, St. Michael. It starts at 9:00 a.m.

Teaching Reading Made Simple is a course in the basics of teaching reading, organised by the Barbados Association of Reading (BAR) and geared towards parents, teachers and reading volunteers.

It is the brainchild of Irisdene Small, a library assistant at the Graydon Sealy School, and a member of BAR, and was started in 2014 as a community outreach activity.

Mrs. Morris, who will address Pre-reading, including print concepts; and the Alphabet system: Phonemic Awareness and Phonics, said: ???The focus of this session will be to expose persons to practical teaching, which they can use as they teach early reading skills.???
