The National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise, is inviting persons interested in organising exercise programmes at the community level, to a free two-day workshop, next week.

The training, to be conducted by some of the island’s leading fitness professionals, will be held on Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26, from 9:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. at the Pan American Health Organization, Dayrells Road, St. Michael.?? It will provide the participants with basic knowledge and skills to enable them to safely conduct group exercise programmes.

Those persons are asked to call the Ministry of Health at 467-9401 or 426-5080, extension 2291.?? The deadline for applications is 3:00 p.m. next Tuesday, February 22nd.??

The National Taskforce on Physical Activity and Exercise, under the chairmanship of Mara Thompson wife of Prime Minister David Thompson, was launched on Caribbean Wellness Day, September 12, 2009.?? Its objective is to devise new ways to engage the population on a national level regarding the benefits of exercise and physical activity and to develop well thought-out programmes to involve Barbadians from all walks of life in a national exercise initiative.
