Parents and guardians of children who plan to submit applications to the Barbados Community College (BCC) for the academic year 2013-2014 are being encouraged to attend the inaugural Admissions Parent Seminar at the college on Thursday, January 17.
The event, which is an initiative of the Counselling and Placement Centre, will be held in the Liberal Arts Auditorium at 5:00 p.m.
In explaining the rationale for the sessions, Counsellor, Racquel Collymore, said it was designed to assist parents/guardians to better understand the administrative process.
She said: "Over the years we have come to recognise that parents who accompany children to the interview sessions or call us on the phone, during the application period usually have many queries about the BCC." She added that they were hoping to make the admissions seminar an annual event
Persons attending will have an opportunity to speak with senior tutors or representatives in the various Divisions to learn about the admissions process, courses offered by the various divisions and the financial costs which are attached to acceptance to the BCC.
