The Barbados Community College (BCC) will officially launch its Associate Degree in Procurement on Wednesday, March 4, at the main campus, Howell???s Cross Road, The Ivy, St. Michael.

The event, which starts at 10:00 a.m., will be addressed by Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones.

The Associate Degree in Procurement commenced on Monday, September 8,??2014, to ensure persons were qualified to service many of the projects that required support or funding from international lending agencies.

The objective of the new programme at the BCC is to prepare aspiring purchasing managers, persons already working in the area and persons interested in pursuing careers in this field, to effectively manage the procurement process.

It is expected that on completing the two-and-a-half-year programme, graduates would be able to operate within the new procurement structure in Barbados with reference to the Public Procurement Bill 2012, the Audit Rules 2011, Tenders Committee and the Solicitor???s General Office.

Director of Finance and Economic Affairs and Head of the Civil Service, Martin Cox; Principal of the BCC, Dr. Gladstone Best; as well as Chief of Operations at the Inter-American Development Bank, Christel Saab, are also expected to address the launch.
