The City will be a hive of activity next week when the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) conducts a run through Bridgetown and Aerobics Burn, as part of its Boot Camp initiative.

Approximately 100 boot camp participants and members of the BDF will meet in Independence Square on Thursday, July 11, for a warm up session, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The run will start at Independence Square, proceed west on to the Chamberlain Bridge, travel north on to the bridge and then left on to Wharf Road.

The participants will also travel to Prince Alfred Street, on to Lower Broad Street, up Broad Street, and turn right at the intersection on to Bridge Street.  They will make their way to Probyn Street, on to Bay Street and head back to Independence Square.

On their return to Independence Square, the runners and members of the public, who are desirous, may participate in the aerobics burn session, which will begin at 6:15 p.m., and last for about 30 minutes.

Prizes will be given to the last two remaining boot camp participants and soldiers who complete the aerobics burn.

The boot camp series is currently being held at the BDF, the Garrison, St. Michael, on Mondays and Thursdays, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

It is being held in preparation for the BDF’s Have A Heart Charity Walk/Run, on Saturday, August 10, beginning at 6:00 a.m., at the HMBS Pelican Barbados Coast Guard, The Mighty Grynner Highway, St. Michael.
