Members of the Barbados Defence Force will get another opportunity to display their athleticism during the IRONMAN Hillaby Apex Race – the fourth event in the Barbados Defence Force’s (BDF) 2011 Military Athletics and Skills Competitions.
The race will be held on Sunday, September 25, commencing at 5:30 a.m. The event will be in two segments race/walk and begins and ends at the Rock Hall Sports Pavilion, St. Thomas.
From its starting point, the competitors will travel west to the roundabout at St. Thomas Parish Church and travel north along Highway 2A, turning northeast after passing Portvale Sugar Factory and then proceeding to Plumtree Road.
The race continues along Mount Hillaby and returns to the Rock Hall Pavilion via Farmers, Dunscombe and Porey Spring.
The IRONMAN race is designed to improve the level of physical fitness among members of the BDF, while at the same time, enhancing the operational readiness of the institution.
