The soles of the members of the various units within the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will be ablaze this coming Sunday, August 28, during its sports day at the Garrison Savannah, St. Michael.
Under the theme Soles Ablaze, the sports meet, slated to commence at 9:00 a.m., will attract participants from the BDF, the Barbados Regiment (regular and reserves officers), full-time and part-time personnel from the Barbados Coast Guard, representatives from the Barbados Cadet Corps and the BDF Sports Programme.
The sports day was conceptualised to foster a spirit of camaraderie and awaken the competitive spirit among the various units within the BDF.
During the event, the officers will show off their athleticism in various field events.?? For the not so athletic, there will be egg and spoon, sack and wheelbarrow races and a variety of board games.
The children will not be left out of the action as there will be a jumping tent and other activities to keep their minds occupied. There will also be entertainment provided during the day and the event will culminate with an awards ceremony.
