Amid efforts to develop a local apiculture industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in collaboration with the Barbados Apiculture Association, will host its second beekeeping forum on Saturday, March 23. The forum will be held at the Gall Hill Resource Centre, Gall Hill, St. John, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Included in the topics to be covered are Rural Beekeeping and Honeybee Products with Commercial Value and Pests that Affects Honeybees in Barbados.  Additionally, the Apiculture Association is also to receive a honey extractor from the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture during the day’s proceedings.

The target audience is beekeeping hobbyists, commercial beekeepers and individuals or community groups interested in the area.  For more information, persons may contact Colin Maynard at 535-5202, or Lynette Rudder at 535-5226.
