The HIV Education Committee of the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) will host two workshops in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, September 13, girls between the ages of 15 and 21 are invited to take part in Girls Aloud, a workshop on Gender, Sex and HIV.

There will also be a panel discussion featuring Behaviour Change Communication Specialist at the National HIV/AIDS Commission, Alexis Nurse; Director of the Bureau of Gender Affairs, Patricia Hackett-Codrington; and Love, Poetry and Song ambassadors Rochelle Griffith, Tabitha Johnson and Camille ???Adaeze??? Evelyn.

Then, on Saturday, September 20, parents and guardians of all ages will gain some insight into how to talk to their children about sexuality, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Facilitator Alexis Nurse will speak on HIV, while co-facilitator and coordinator of the My Child and I charity, Francine Charles, will address the topic of parenting. There will also be a session on abstinence.

Both sessions will be held at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church, from??2:00 to 6:00 p.m. To register for the workshops, call Lisa Bayley or Aisha Reid at the BGIS at 426-2232 or 426-2242 by Wednesday, September 10, as space is limited.
