The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) is re-affirming its commitment to the development of small and micro businesses through the sponsorship of local artisans at the upcoming 15th Caribbean Gift and Craft Show.

A dozen or more local entrepreneurs, who are engaged in various economic activites, will get  the opportunity to display their products to more than 300 potential trade buyers during the region’s premier art and craft showcase, slated for October 2 to 5, at the Sherbourne Conference Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael.

The Crafts Development Unit, a department within the BIDC’s Entrepreneurial Division, has secured 13 booths to be shared by business registered with the BIDC and the Barbados Youth Business Trust for the event.

According to BIDC’s Craft Development Co-ordinator, Sandra Browne, “participants at the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show will gain valuable experience in the trade show on a wider scale, which could then be used as a stepping stone in their preparation for entry into the export market.”

The craft exhibition will be open to trade buyers on Thursday, October 2, from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. and to the public on Saturday October, 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Sunday October 5, from 10:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m.

Admission for adults is $12 and children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.
