Secondary and tertiary school students will have an opportunity next week to showcase their creativity and business savvy when the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) launches its Students’ Business Plan Competition for 2011.

The launch will take place on Wednesday, March 23, at the Small Business Development Centre, Fontabelle, St. Michael, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Coordinated by the Entrepreneurial Development Division of the BIDC, the Business Plan Competition seeks to develop a business culture among Barbadian youth.

It also provides students with the opportunity to use their initiative and create a business plan which can be developed into a workable document.

Judging will be based on the innovation and creativity of the participants. The competition runs until April 29 and offers prizes ranging from $4,500 to $8,000 in technical assistance, along with a first prize of one BlackBerry mobile phone for each category.
