With BMEX 2017 set to begin on Friday, June 2, the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) is looking to push the Barbados brand in its overseas markets, by facilitating an inward mission of 11 buyers to participate in the showcase.

The group, coming from Cuba, Panama, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and CARICOM, will arrive in Barbados this Wednesday, May 31.

It is anticipated that in visiting BMEX and observing the new and existing products, the buyers will be encouraged to place orders and push the Barbadian brands.

In this regard, the BIDC will host a Buyers’ Brunch at Bagnall’s Point Gallery, Pelican Craft Centre, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown, this Thursday, June 1 beginning at 10:15 a.m.

The event will allow the buyers a ‘real taste’ of Barbados by featuring live cooking demonstrations utilising local products with well-known Barbadian Chef Peter Edey.

An opportunity would also be provided for the registered manufacturers to interact with the buyers in the hope that new business would be generated through business-to-business meetings.

Chief Executive Officer at the BIDC, Sonja Trotman, will deliver the feature address at the event.
