Persons involved in the condiments sector will have the opportunity to benefit from training, which could help enhance their products and operations within their businesses.

The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) and the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation, in partnership with Auburn University, will host a two-day product development training workshop, from May 22 to May 23, at Bagnall’s Point Gallery, Pelican Industrial Park, St. Michael.

Training will be delivered by Food Scientist and Educator, Christy Mendoza; Regional Extension Agent and Research Laboratory Technician, Janet Johnson, and Professor of Food Science, Jean Weese, all from Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama, in the United States.

Topics to be discussed include Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Microbiology, Rules and Regulations, Processing Ingredients, the Functions of Ingredients in Jams and Jellies, Methods of Thermal Processing, and Seafood and Meat HACCP.

The deadline for registration is Monday, May 20. A registration fee is payable at the cashier at BIDC’s head office.
