Corporate Barbados is continuing to show its commitment to youth development and the work of the Division of Youth Affairs, through tangibly supporting programmes and initiatives that seek to deliver services to young people in communities across the island.

Recently, Manager/Owner Stefan Sherry of Fashionation Inc., an apparel and accessories store in Barbados, presented three tablets with external memory devices, to the Youth Development Programme’s Block Committee. The team specifically works with and introduces young men and women on the ‘blocks’, to programmes and training opportunities.

In handing over the electronic devices to Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, Mr. Sherry stated that the presentation of the tablets was his way of giving back to persons in the community and Barbados.

Adding that he understood the value of persons getting assistance, he said the Ministry’s efforts would help many persons who may not know where to go for information or what is available to them.

Minister Griffith lauded Mr. Sherry for his generous donation which he noted was very timely, as the Block Committee would now be more efficient in its collection of information to assist the young men and women, who were eager to improve their skills and opportunities for advancement.

The Minister added that the tablets would allow the team to register persons on the spot for programmes of interest to them.

The tablets will carry registration and contact forms for the Ministry’s suite of services, as well as other services, including the Barbados Construction Gateway Training Initiative and other national programmes.

Also present at the presentation were representatives of the Youth Development Programme’s Block Committee including Chairman, Marcus Stephen and team members Kirk Prescod and Kashera Corbin.

The tablets were eagerly welcomed by the team, who stated that it would immediately assist their work and remove the physical paper applications and challenges that come with that, in an open environment.
