(BIDC)

The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation’s (BIDC) Blue Flame Challenge will be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 19, in Building No. 2 Harbour Industrial Estate, St Michael, at 9:00 a.m.

This year’s Challenge will be a 36-hour Hackathon, and will see persons with technical, creative and business skills working together on the real-life challenge of connecting Barbados’ products and services with the Diaspora.

A hackathon is an event which spans several days, with groups of people gathered to work in collaborative computer programming. The solution coming out of the Blue Flame Challenge Hackathon will be considered by the BIDC as the platform for its BajanConnect export market initiative.

The BIDC has partnered with IBM to provide participants with training and mentoring to assist them in creating an innovative solution on IBM Cloud.

Minister of International Business and Industry, Ronald Toppin, will deliver the feature address, while IBM representatives Kala Fleming and Shaun Archer will give remarks.
