The Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) will host BAJCAN Connect: Service Providers Forum, on Thursday, December 10.

It is a virtual forum that aims to bring together persons with services and an interest in the development of the island’s medicinal cannabis industry.

The key objective is for ancillary businesses (which are companies offering business to business support for the actual growth, processing and sale of medicinal cannabis products) to be educated about the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Industry Act, 2019, and its regulations, as well as speak to the opportunities available.

It is expected that persons working in, or with the technology sector, ag-tech companies, point-of-sale systems, payment processors, fencing services, security services, construction, accountants and more will participate.

According to the BMCLA: “The great thing about participating as an ancillary business in the cannabis industry is that it gives an opportunity to pivot existing skill sets and experience into a young industry.”

Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight, and experts in the various fields will address the forum, which will comprise three sessions. It starts at 10:00 a.m. with the first session targeting persons who work in security services.

The second session begins at 11:00 a.m. and will focus on ancillary services, while the third, planned for those in the construction, green-housing and related services, begins at noon.

Barbadians may sign up for one or all three sessions by visiting www.bmcla.bb; they may also access further information, on the forum, from that website.
