(BNC 2016)

This year’s biennial Barbados Network Consultation (BNC) 4th Diaspora conference will have a special forum dedicated to the island’s youth.

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, a Youth Interactive Forum will be held August 3 – 5, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael.

The forum will explore newly emerging career trends in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and the Arts.

All young people between 15 and 25 years, especially those enrolled in secondary and tertiary institutions are encouraged to attend.

One of the highlights of the event is a ‘Hackathon’, which will involve computer programmers, software developers, graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborating intensively on software projects to solve an identifiable problem.

There will also be several internationally-based Barbadian scientists who will participate in the forum which will offer students a real experience of what the world of work will look like in the next 5 to 20 years. The scientists will also examine how young people can become key players in that world.

For further information on access to the Youth Interactive Forum, persons should visit the BNC 2016 website or call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade at 431-2200.

The theme of BNC 2016 is: One Nation, One Family Celebrating 50 Years of Independence Shaping Global Citizens.
