In an attempt to strengthen the competitiveness of the small, micro and medium-sized business sectors in the trading of goods and services, the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI), will be hosting an awareness seminar, on the CARICOM Labelling Standards and Conformity Assessment.

The forum, held in conjunction with the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ), will take place on Wednesday, August 26, at the Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The CROSQ/Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Multi-lateral Investment Fund (MIF) project, which is entitled: Promoting Small and Medium Enterprise Competitiveness in the Caribbean Through Technical Standards, will be examined in four components.

Modules for discussion are: awareness-raising activities for the public and private sectors; the development of technical standards and conformity assessment guidelines; training and the establishment of a national and regional information system of training of country experts involved in the standardisation work.
