The Rehabilitative Programme of Her Majesty???s Prison Dodds has received a boost.

The St. Philip institution received a donation of writing and art materials from Leader, a Barbadian company, and texts by UWI lecturers Dr. Sherma Roberts and Dr. Paul Pounder entitled: Contemporary Caribbean Tourism: Concepts and Cases and

Entrepreneurship for Caribbean Students, respectively. The estimated value of the donation is BBD $2,700.

The donation formed part of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus??? outreach initiatives. Its aim was to support the literacy efforts at the Prison and address the expressed needs of text books and stationery supplies for the prisoners.

Instructional Development and Literacy Specialist at The UWI, Dr. Sylvia Henry, coordinated the donation under the Office of the Attorney General???s Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit.

The donation was accepted by Assistant Superintendent, Cedrick Moore, and Assistant Chief Officer, Anthony Holder, who expressed gratitude to the UWI and the CJRPU upon receipt of the gifts.

Dr. Henry, along with Dr. Sherma Roberts and Dr. Paul Pounder, all expressed their pleasure in making the contribution to the prison???s literacy efforts. Director of the CJRPU, Cheryl Willoughby, also stated that she was pleased that her department could facilitate the process.
