Members of the public will soon have an opportunity to improve their physical fitness while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will be hosting five six-week boot camp exercise sessions shortly in preparation for the Digicel/BDF Have A Heart Charity Fun Walk & Run on Saturday, August 11, as well as to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Series 1 will be held from April 16 to May 25, while Series 2 will run from May 28 to July 6; and Series 3 from July 9 to August 17. Series 4 will start on August 20 and end on September 28, while the final one will be from October 1 to November 9. Boot camps will be held for a nominal fee on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The sessions will be held at various locations, including Lingwood Hall, St. Ann’s Fort; Garrison Savannah; HMBS PELICAN, Spring Garden; Browne’s Beach, St. Michael; Brandon’s Beach, St. Michael; Pebble’s Beach, St. Michael;    Drill Hall Beach, St. Michael; and Wildey Gymnasium, St. Michael. They will be delivered by trained BDF physical training instructors.

Meanwhile, the Digicel/BDF Have A Heart Charity Walk and Run will take place on Saturday, August 11, starting at the HMBS Pelican, Spring Garden, at 6:00 a.m. and climaxing at the BDF, St. Ann’s Fort, where there will be a Health and Corporate Fair until 1:00 p.m.

The money collected from the boot camps and the charity walk and run will be donated to Precious Touch Foundation Inc., an organisation which assists children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, or are terminally ill, realise their wishes.
