The Barbados Statistical Service’s (BSS) 2010 Population and Housing Census has been extended by two weeks as a result of the recent inclement weather which affected the island.

The exercise, which began on Sunday, May 2, and was slated to run over a six week period, will now conclude on Sunday, July 11.?? The extension will allow the enumerators, who usually conduct house-to-house interviews mainly on weekends, to complete the process in districts across Barbados.

The Census is designed to assess changes to the Barbadian population and housing landscapes since 2000, when the last investigation was carried out by the BSS.?? It is also aimed at providing information on what the country needs to know in order to develop policies and programmes to benefit the public.??

The BSS is reminding the public to cooperate with the enumerators, as all information collected will be treated in the strictest confidence, as stipulated by the Statistics Act Cap 192. jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
