The Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will commence another round of its Continuous Labour Force Sample Survey (CLFSS), on Monday, February 22. As a result, Field Officers from the BSS will be visiting households across the island.

In keeping with the Department’s guidelines for the conduct of household surveys, officers will have their official BSS identification card prominently displayed, and will not enter the residences of respondents.

Additionally, the public is assured that the exercise will be executed in compliance with the national COVID-19 safety protocols, specifically the wearing of face masks, physical distancing and sanitising by officers. Householders are also implored to take the requisite precautions when interacting with BSS personnel.

The communities to be surveyed in St. Michael are: Free Hill, Free Hill Development, University Hill, Black Rock Main Road, Pioneer Road, Bush Hall Yard Gap, Bush Hall Main Road, Codrington Road, Stadium Road, Reece Road, Lodge Road, Garnet Drive, Emerald Drive, Patience Drive, Onyx Drive, Martinique Road, Gittens Gap, Government Hill, Branker Gap, Ivy Main Road, Ivy, Back Ivy Road, My Lord’s Hill, Britton’s Hill, Upper Collymore Rock, Britton’s Cross Road, and McClean Gap

In Christ Church, Field Officers will visit: Maxwell Coast Road, Dover, Dover Gardens, St. Lawrence Gap, Bath Village, Dover Terrace, Headley Road, Maxwell Main Road, Top Rock, Durants, Southern Heights, Pilgrim Road, Sands Drive, Lowland Road, Balls Plantation, Searles, Enterprise Road, Atkins Land, Enterprise Main Road, Deanes Land, Greenland, Enterprise, Abbey Gardens, Gibbons Boggs and Pegwell Boggs.

The districts to be visited in St. George are: Salters Road, Salters Main Road, Constant Road, and Glebe.

Field Officers will also survey several communities in St. Philip: Oughterson, Bushy Park Tenantry, Bushy Park Plantation, Fairfield Road, Ebony Drive, Sandford, Thickets Gardens, Pollards Mill, Vineyard, Parish Land, and Nightengale Drive.

The districts to be surveyed in St. John are: Clifton Hall, Edge Cliff, Hothersal Tenantry, Edey Village, Edge Cliff Gardens, Malvern, Natty Brown Hill, Golden Ridge, Mount Tabor, Four Roads, Claybury Tenantry, Wilson Hill, Easy Hall Road, Sweet Vale, Guinea Plantation, Cliff Road, Cliff View Heights, Hillview Estates, Cliff Tenantry, Cliff Meadows, Kendall, and Featherbed Lane.

In the parish of St. Andrew, officers will visit: Green Pond Outlet, Savannah Road, Shorey Tenantry, Belleplaine, and Old Boys Road.

The exercise will also see the following districts in St. Lucy being surveyed: Harrises Tenantry Road, Hope Road, Hope Road Development, Northumberland, North Point Gardens, Flat Field, Connell Town, Hope Bridge Road, Greenidges and Spring Hall.

The Barbados Statistical Survey urges the public to actively participate in the survey, and has assured that all information will be handled in the strictest of confidence.

The CLFSS is the quarterly collection of current information on various labour force characteristics, as well as income and expenditure data, gathered from a sample of households.

The information is used to determine employment and unemployment levels on the island, coupled with the distribution of skills/professions in the different sectors of the economy; all of which leads to the provision of statistics for timely and necessary social and economic planning.
