Barbadians will get the opportunity to learn more about the work done by the Barbados Statistical Service (BSS), when that department hosts a week of activities from Friday, October 15, to Friday, October, 22.

Under the theme: Celebrating the Many Achievements of Official Statistics, Winfield Griffith of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, will deliver a lecture to staff on Friday, October 15, at their Old National Insurance Building headquarters, The City, starting at 9:00 a.m.?? The discussion will coincide with activities held region-wide in observance of Caribbean Statistics Day.

On Sunday, October 17, there will be a church service at the Bethel Methodist Church, Lower Bay Street, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m. The gross domestic product (GDP) revision will come into sharp focus on Tuesday, October 19, during a technical seminar for staff in the Lecture Room, Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael, commencing at 9:00 a.m.

The following day, Wednesday, October 20, a presentation to schools by Shawn Skinner of the BSS and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Tom Olsen, will be the highlight of World Statistics Day.?? The event will get under way from 9:00 a.m.

The week will culminate with a staff awards luncheon at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, starting at noon. Guest speaker for the event will be motivational speaker, Errol Griffith. jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
